Digital Desk, New Delhi. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, alongside Japan’s Transport Minister Hiromasa Nakano, toured the construction site for the high-speed railway in Surat on Friday to assess the progress of the highly anticipated bullet train project.
The Ministry of Railways has noted that this visit is a testament to the robust partnership between India and Japan in bringing to fruition India’s inaugural high-speed rail corridor.
In a statement released by the ministry, it was highlighted that the ministers evaluated several critical aspects of the project, including the machinery used for laying track slabs and the facilities for adjusting these slabs.
Approval of Quality Standards
The ministry reported that both ministers expressed their satisfaction with the commitment to quality standards and commended the swift progress being made in construction. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is dedicated to making this pioneering bullet train initiative a reality for India.
According to reports, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, which spans 508 kilometers, is set to enhance connectivity significantly between the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
