Maruti Suzuki has recorded one of its most remarkable performances in a decade during this festive season, with total bookings soaring to 250,000 units and exports witnessing a significant growth of 50 percent. Partho Banerjee, the Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki, attributed this year’s extraordinary demand to several favorable market conditions.
“In the first eight days of the Navratri festival, the company has successfully delivered approximately 165,000 vehicles, and we anticipate achieving a remarkable milestone of 200,000 deliveries by Dussehra, surpassing all previous records set over the last ten years. The current booking figure stands at an impressive 250,000,” he stated.
Banerjee pointed out that last year’s Navratri deliveries were around 100,000 vehicles, underscoring a nearly twofold increase in sales this year. He linked this surge to the GST reform implemented by the government, which has been a catalyst for buyer interest. “Our exports have also experienced a 50 percent increase, with 42,000 vehicles shipped abroad. To cater to this heightened demand, our production team is working diligently, including on weekends and holidays. We expect a strong October ahead with 250,000 pending bookings, and our primary objective remains to expedite vehicle deliveries to our valued customers,” he elaborated.
Banerjee explained that following the GST Council’s announcement of a rate reduction in August, many potential buyers who had previously delayed their purchases have now begun to place orders, significantly contributing to the current demand surge in October.
In a previous statement made in September, Banerjee emphasized the company’s commitment, along with its partners, to serve customers efficiently during this festive period. “Our dealer partners are tirelessly working around the clock in showrooms to ensure timely deliveries. Our financial partners are proactively processing loan approvals and delivery orders to facilitate quick vehicle handovers. The underlying reason for this heightened activity is the positive impact of the GST 2.0 reforms,” he shared with ANI.
“Whereas bookings used to average around 10,000 units daily, we are now seeing figures rise to 18,000 per day. Even in the small car segment, we are experiencing robust booking trends. Notably, beyond metropolitan areas, the response has been even more favorable, with bookings doubling—a remarkable 100 percent growth,” he remarked.
Banerjee also highlighted the impressive performance of smaller vehicles. “We are observing a remarkable 100 percent growth in sales of small cars. In major cities, the growth rate hovers around 35 to 40 percent,” he noted, underscoring the diverse appeal of Maruti Suzuki’s offerings across different market segments.
