The individual was reportedly apprehended by these workers while tending to his goats, leading to a brutal confrontation that ultimately resulted in his death. In response to the heartbreaking event, local villagers expressed their outrage by vandalizing the forest range office and clashing with police forces.
Digital Desk, New Delhi. A young man in Jaipur, who suffered severe physical abuse at the hands of forest workers, tragically ended his life. The incident unfolded Thursday evening when the youth ventured into a forested area to graze his goats. It was here that forest officials detained him, subjecting him to a violent assault after imposing a fine of Rs 2200.
Community Response to the Incident
The news of the young man’s death incited a wave of anger among local villagers. On Friday morning, a large group converged on the forest range office, where they unleashed their fury, vandalizing the premises. In the chaos, forest workers sought refuge from the enraged crowd. Upon receiving reports of the unrest, police forces were dispatched to the scene, where villagers staged a protest. Tensions escalated further when stones were hurled at the Raisar police station in the afternoon.
Police Intervention and Resolution
To manage the volatile situation, law enforcement officials resorted to using non-lethal force, including firing tear gas to disperse the crowd. Subsequently, high-ranking officials engaged in dialogue with the protesting villagers. An agreement was reached, promising a job on a contractual basis and financial compensation of Rs 18 lakh to the family of the deceased. Additionally, it was decided to file charges of abetment to suicide against the two forest workers involved in the incident.
