A 25-year-old filmmaker residing in Delhi has been taken into custody for the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl. The accused reportedly promised the victim opportunities in Gujarati cinema and subjected her to sexual abuse over a period of approximately 18 months. Authorities have registered a case against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Digital Desk, New Delhi. A man, 25 years of age and identifying himself as a filmmaker, has been apprehended in connection with the alleged rape of a minor girl aged 15 over an extended period of one and a half years.
The arrest came after the victim, a student at an Industrial Training Institute (ITI), filed a complaint at the university police station on October 1. In her statement, the young girl revealed that approximately two years earlier, she had seen a post on Instagram seeking individuals interested in pursuing careers in Gujarati films.
Initial Contact and Deception
Upon seeing the advertisement, she contacted the phone number provided and arranged a meeting at the accused’s office located on Sadhu Vaswani Road in Rajkot, accompanied by her mother. Following this initial meeting, the accused invited her for an audition, claiming she needed to practice her dialogue skills that required attendance in various training sessions.
Inappropriate Demands
The First Information Report (FIR) indicates that the accused assured her that if she improved her acting abilities, she would be given a significant role in an upcoming film. During one of the training sessions, he allegedly informed her that she would need to perform intimate scenes with him.
It was at this point that he purportedly made unwanted advances, touching her inappropriately and attempting to kiss her. Despite her rejection of these advances and her decision to stop attending practice sessions, the accused reportedly contacted her mother, insisting that she return.
Later, the girl claimed that she was lured back under the pretext of event management work, during which the accused frequently provided her with food and drinks laced with drugs. Over the course of 18 months, he allegedly sexually assaulted her at both his home and office, threatening her against reporting the incidents, claiming it would jeopardize her chances of landing a role in films.
Investigating officer Haresh Patel confirmed that the accused has been arrested and a case has been formally registered against him under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. The police have since conducted a thorough investigation at the scene, gathering corroborative evidence to support the victim’s claims.
