In a significant development for education in India, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has officially launched five platforms under the Nilat Digital University. Designed to cater to students from smaller towns, the university provides an opportunity for them to pursue technology and other professional courses at affordable virtual fees, making higher education more accessible than ever. Among the diverse offerings, the university features 101 courses that encompass in-demand fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.
Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. The long-awaited dream of a Digital University has now come to fruition. The concept was first introduced three years ago during budget discussions, and on Wednesday, Minister Ashwini Vaishnav unveiled the five platforms of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (Nilat) Digital University.
The newly launched platforms are located in Muzaffarpur, Bihar; Balasore, Odisha; Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh; Lungli, Mizoram; and Daman. One of the primary advantages of this initiative is that it enables students residing in smaller cities to access technology and professional courses without the need to relocate to larger urban centers. This virtual approach not only offers substantial savings in terms of fees but also enhances the convenience of pursuing education from the comfort of their homes.
101 Comprehensive Courses at Nilat Digital University
Nilat Digital University boasts an impressive catalog of 101 courses tailored for students. These courses span critical areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Deep Tech Programs, Semiconductor Design and Manufacturing, Information Technology, Personal Development, Industry 4.0, and various other professional disciplines. Instruction will be delivered through a virtual application, and students will have access to an AI mentor to guide them throughout their learning experience. Practical training will also be facilitated in a virtual lab environment, with course fees varying based on the specific program.
Accessing Course Information and Fees
Students seeking detailed information regarding the available courses and associated fees can easily visit the Nilat Digital University website. Furthermore, upon completion of their courses, efforts will be made to assist students in securing employment, with Nilat actively collaborating with various companies to facilitate job placements.
Tailored Courses to Meet Industry Needs
During the launch event, Minister Vaishnav emphasized the importance of aligning education with industry requirements. He noted that traditional educational models often focus on what educators know, rather than what students and employers actually need. To address this gap, he encouraged companies to collaborate in developing courses that are tailored to their specific requirements. The groundwork for the Digital University has been in progress for the past three years, with a clear focus on equipping students with relevant skills for the modern workforce.
