Digital Desk, New Delhi. This heartbreaking news from Charholi, Pune, has sent shockwaves through the local community. A young boy, only 12 years old, tragically passed away after being ensnared in a lift within a housing society. Witnesses report that the incident unfolded shortly after 5 PM on Thursday. It appears that the child was attempting to learn how to operate the lift when the accident occurred.
Fire brigade officials reported that they were alerted to the situation and promptly dispatched a team to the scene. “The young boy was trapped between the third and fourth floors. His lower body had become wedged between the lift car and the wall of the shaft. It took considerable effort to extricate him from that position,” recounted an official involved in the rescue operation.
Details of the Incident
The unfortunate event transpired at approximately 5 PM, when Ameya Fadtare was playing near the lift. It is believed he accidentally pressed the button to move the lift between floors. Eyewitnesses indicated that he attempted to exit when the lift door opened, but the cabin unexpectedly began to descend. This resulted in him becoming trapped between the second and third floors, leading to severe injuries.
Rescue Efforts by Fire Brigade
According to reports, the fire brigade personnel had to first break into the control room of the lift. Following that, they successfully extracted the child from the lift. After his rescue, he was rushed to a hospital for immediate medical attention, but unfortunately, he did not survive and passed away during treatment. The police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
Technical Issues Suspected
Fire brigade officials suspect that a malfunction in the lift’s sensor may have contributed to the accident. The building, which was constructed in 2014, features a lift that is now approximately 11 years old and has reportedly suffered from a lack of proper maintenance. Deputy Commissioner of Police Bapu Bangar stated, “The police are examining the incident from a technical perspective to determine the cause of this tragic event.”
