His sudden demise occurred while he was participating in a wedding celebration, where he suffered a heart attack and collapsed. Unfortunately, due to the late hour, he could not receive medical assistance in time, leading to his untimely death. Rakesh was not just a rising star in the Kannada film industry; he was also recognized as the winner of a popular comedy show.

During the production of Kantara Chapter 1, the film faced further tragedy, with three actors having lost their lives, prompting speculation about the film’s auspiciousness. Alongside Rakesh’s untimely death, two other junior artists also passed away—one due to a heart attack and the other tragically drowned in a river.
