In a world filled with opportunities, young Indians often face the choice between pursuing their dreams and clinging to the comfort of stability.

The inspiring journey of Harshil Tomar, Co-founder of DreamLaunch, gained attention recently after a post on X went viral. The post detailed his remarkable transition from being let go by a US-based company to generating an impressive $50,000 in revenue, along with a consistent monthly income of $10,000.

In a span of just six months, Tomar’s life took a dramatic turn. During a routine morning meeting, his team leader informed him that they had to “part ways” because he was “focusing too much on my startup.”

Reflecting on that moment, Tomar recalled, “I pleaded for another opportunity, hoping to improve my performance and work more efficiently. Unfortunately, the decision was final. I was heartbroken. When I told my friend @ilavanyajain that I had been fired, he didn’t believe me at first, insisting I was joking. I then shared the news with my co-founder @WasimShips as well,”

Faced with an unexpected challenge, Tomar made a pivotal decision.

While he had been prioritizing security over his passion, Tomar’s venture was only bringing in “approximately $1,000 a month.”

“Fear loomed over me. I had around nine months of financial runway if I lived frugally. I sat down and considered every possible outcome—good, bad, and mediocre. Ultimately, I decided to take the plunge. I would live frugally and strive to make this work. Every day I spent seeking safety would only lead me away from taking risks. I thought about the future: a year from now, I would need to cover rent, think about buying a house, and consider marriage,” he wrote.

“So, I decided to go all in! In the worst-case scenario, I could pick up some freelance work and earn $1,000 a month to sustain myself. We embarked on this journey, starting with a modest salary as I transitioned to full-time. My co-founder (@WasimShips) recommended this approach and chose not to withdraw any funds to ensure my financial stability,” he shared.

Interestingly, Tomar disclosed that his parents remain unaware of his job loss.

“I told them I spend 2-3 hours coding each day and handle the tasks they assign me. Families can be quite daunting in such circumstances, so I chose to keep this decision to myself,” he explained.

Harshil Tomar’s Inspiring Journey to Self-Reliance and Triumph

Discussing the entrepreneurial spirit that fueled his small victories, he remarked, “From months of having zero clients to collaborating with some of the biggest brands, this journey has toughened me more than anything else I’ve faced in life. But by showing up every day, progress happened. I secured sponsorships, retained clients, and began to see real results,” he stated.

“Today, we have achieved $50,000 in revenue. We are on the verge of expanding our team from one to ten. We’ve had months where we hit $10,000 in monthly recurring revenue. We secured sponsors on X and were selected for a residency program. I’m also in the process of developing my own software as a service (SaaS),” he proudly claimed.

Recognizing that his bold decision could have led to disaster, he said, “I took that leap of faith, and it seems the universe rewarded my courage.”

“The young boy within me, who once dreamed of being an entrepreneur after watching Shark Tank USA, has finally realized his ambition, helping others achieve their dreams as well,” he added.

“If you’re reading this, consider it your sign to persist, show up daily, and hustle hard! Stay focused, work diligently, and determine what you truly desire. Dismiss the opinions of others and put in enough effort that success becomes inevitable,” he encouraged.
