Grand Theft Auto VI, one of the most eagerly awaited titles in gaming history, is now scheduled for release on May 26, 2026. This sixth chapter of the renowned GTA series, developed by Rockstar Games, was initially slated to debut in August 2025.
“Hello everyone, we are excited to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI will now launch on May 26, 2026. We sincerely apologize for the delay. The excitement and passion surrounding the new Grand Theft Auto is truly humbling for our entire team. We appreciate your support and patience as we work to complete the game,” stated Rockstar Games.
“With every release, our aim has always been to exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no different. We hope you understand that the additional time we require is necessary to deliver the quality you expect and deserve. We plan to share more information with you soon,” the statement continued.
The previous installment, Grand Theft Auto V, which came out in 2013, has sold over 200 million copies, solidifying its status as one of the best-selling video games of all time.
