Public Holiday on October 7: This year, October 7, 2025, marks the celebration of Valmiki Jayanti. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has declared a public holiday in the state to commemorate the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. Prior to this announcement, District Magistrate Manish Bansal had already designated a local holiday on October 6, coinciding with the Maa Shakambhari Devi Mela. As a result, students in UP will enjoy an extended holiday weekend.
The decision to recognize Valmiki Jayanti as a holiday was made following requests from members of the Valmiki Community.
