Public Holiday on October 7: This year, October 7, 2025, marks the celebration of Valmiki Jayanti. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has declared a public holiday in the state to commemorate the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. Prior to this announcement, District Magistrate Manish Bansal had already designated a local holiday on October 6, coinciding with the Maa Shakambhari Devi Mela. As a result, students in UP will enjoy an extended holiday weekend.
The decision to recognize Valmiki Jayanti as a holiday was made following requests from members of the Valmiki Community. This day is dedicated to celebrating the life and contributions of Maharishi Valmiki, renowned as the author of the epic Ramayana.
