Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill found himself in another intense exchange with the on-field umpires regarding a DRS decision during the IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday. Earlier in the game, Gill had already clashed with the fourth umpire over his own dismissal. Later, during SRH’s innings, a controversial DRS call concerning Abhishek Sharma led to further disputes.
In the 14th over, Abhishek was hit on his shoes by a yorker. Despite the umpire dismissing the LBW appeal, the Gujarat Titans opted for a review. The replays showed that the ball’s impact was just outside the leg-stump line, but Gill was frustrated as the footage did not reveal where the ball had pitched. This disagreement escalated into a heated discussion with the umpires. However, Abhishek Sharma intervened to help ease the tension, and the situation concluded with the two players sharing a light-hearted moment.
The match saw the Gujarat Titans bounce back decisively with a 38-run victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad, largely thanks to Prasidh Krishna’s exceptional bowling, along with explosive half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler.
As a result of this defeat, SRH’s chances of making the playoffs appear slim, while the Titans have improved their prospects. Gill, Buttler, and Sai Sudharsan delivered a strong performance, leading GT to a total of 224 for six.
In response, SRH started well but couldn’t maintain the momentum, finishing at 186 for six. Abhishek Sharma emerged as the top scorer for SRH, hitting 74 runs off 41 balls.
Earlier in the match, Gill scored a quick-fire 76 off 38 balls, while Sudharsan contributed with a brisk 48 runs off 23 balls, forming an impressive opening partnership of 87 runs in just 6.5 overs. Buttler then pushed GT past the 200-mark with his 64 runs from 37 balls.
Prasidh Krishna was once again outstanding with the ball for GT, achieving remarkable figures of 2 for 19 in 4 overs. The only worry for the Titans was Ishantโs departure from the field after he was unable to complete the final over.
