The Beed Government Hospital in Maharashtra has recently made headlines for an extraordinary statistic: over the course of the past nine months, the facility has witnessed the birth of 42 sets of twins. This remarkable trend has been attributed to several factors, including advancements in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and the increasing prevalence of twins in families. Medical professionals have noted that women aged 30 and older also tend to have a higher likelihood of giving birth to twins.
Digital Desk, New Delhi. The Beed Government Hospital in Maharashtra has become a focal point of discussion due to its impressive record of twin births. In just nine months, the hospital has reported the delivery of 42 sets of twins. Medical experts attribute this surge to the use of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), which encompasses methods like in-vitro fertilization (IVF), as well as genetic predispositions that can encourage twin births.
Experts have also indicated that there has been a slight uptick in the likelihood of women over the age of 30 giving birth to twins. The arrival of multiple infants often necessitates specialized medical attention since twins are frequently born prematurely and may require additional care.
The Rise in Twin Births
Dr. L.R. Tandale, the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at Beed Civil Hospital, confirmed that the institution is fully equipped to manage this rise in twin births. He stated, “The incidence of twin and triplet births has certainly seen an increase in recent years, and in the past nine months, we have delivered 42 sets of twins. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is adequately prepared to handle these cases.”
Dr. Tandale further explained that the hospital has implemented a specialized medical team dedicated to the comprehensive care of both mothers and their newborns during and after delivery. Hospital staff have placed particular emphasis on preventing infections among the newborns and ensuring that they receive proper facilities during these crucial early days of life.
