Suruchi, who was seated next to the driver, allegedly grabbed the steering wheel during the argument, leading the car to collide with three women who were out for a morning walk near Telibandha Gaurav Path on Friday.
In this tragic event, 30-year-old Priya Sahu jumped from the car and fell about 20 feet, succumbing to severe head injuries and excessive bleeding. Riya Banjare and Lalitha Sahu fortunately did not sustain life-threatening injuries. The driver, Amit Singh Chauhan, was apprehended by the police a few hours later, while his girlfriend Suruchi Pandey remains at large. Authorities have charged them with culpable homicide and attempted murder.
According to Narendra Mishra, the in-charge at Telibandha police station, Priya Sahu and the two other women set out for a morning walk around 5:00 AM. They arrived at the overbridge via Ring Road near the Royal Enfield Bullet showroom by 5:30 AM, at which point they were struck by Amit’s Maruti Swift car coming from behind.
Accused Amit Singh has been arrested.
