Q4 Earnings Reports and India FX Dollar Reserve Data: What to Expect Next Week

In the week ahead, earnings announcements will persist as various companies reveal their financial results for the quarter ending March 31, 2025.

Significant firms participating in this include Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., One97 Communications Ltd. (the operator of Paytm), Dabur India Ltd., Asian Paints Ltd., and Larsen & Toubro Ltd.

Additionally, there will be a couple of initial public offerings (IPOs) as two small and medium enterprises will be opening and closing their IPOs during this week.

Market Overview This Week

India’s major equity indices concluded a week shortened by holidays on a positive note this Friday, recovering after a day of losses. The NSE Nifty 50 finished 0.05% higher at 24,346.70, while the BSE Sensex rose 0.32% to close at 80,501.99.

The indices recorded a weekly gain, with the Nifty 50 previously closing at 24,039.35 and the Sensex at 79,212.53 in the week ending April 25.

On Friday, shares of Reliance Industries Ltd. increased by 1.24% to Rs 1,422.40 each, while Bajaj Finance Ltd. saw a rise of 2.64%, closing at Rs 8,862.50 per share.

However, shares of JSW Steel Ltd. and Bharti Airtel Ltd. negatively impacted the index. JSW Steel’s share price dropped by 5.50% to Rs 973.20, and Airtel’s shares fell by 0.68% to Rs 1,851.90.

Domestic Developments: Q4 Earnings Season Ongoing

Several companies listed on the Nifty are expected to release their financial outcomes for the quarter that ended in March 2025 in the upcoming week. This includes prominent names like Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., One97 Communications Ltd., Dabur Ltd., Asian Paints Ltd., and Larsen & Toubro Ltd.

Additionally, two small and medium enterprisesโ€”Manoj Jewellers Ltd. and Srigee DLM Ltd.โ€”are set to launch their initial public offerings, which will open on May 5 and close on May 7.

The Reserve Bank of India will publish a report regarding the status of the countryโ€™s international currency reserves in relation to US dollars on May 9.

Global Developments

This week, the US and Eurozone will release their S&P Global Composite Purchasing Managers’ Index on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Both regions will also announce their Services PMI for April on the same days, with the UK set to provide its Services PMI data on Tuesday.

On Monday, the US will share its Institute of Supply Management non-manufacturing PMI and Prices for April.

Moreover, data regarding imports, exports, and the trade balance for March will be released on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the US will reveal its Federal Reserve interest rate decision, details from the FOMC meeting, and crude oil inventory data.

Thursday will feature the UK’s interest rate decision for May, alongside the USโ€™s initial jobless claims data.

Finally, on Friday, China will disclose its import, export, and trade balance data for April, along with its Consumer Price Index and Producer Price Index information.

Corporate Actions

Shares of Oberoi Realty Ltd., Varun Beverages Ltd., and Sundram Fasteners Ltd. will go ex-dividend this week.

Bajaj Finance Ltd. will record its shareholders on May 9 for a special dividend of Rs 12 for the financial year 2025.

Crisil Ltd. will have a record date of May 7 for its interim dividend of Rs 8, while Bank of Maharashtra will record its shareholders on May 9 for a final dividend of Rs 1.5.
